True, but did you believe you could go
through life and never be afraid? Did you
think there wouldn't be days when people
were on your case so bad you'd like to
choke the bunch of them?

JIM:

I never thought about it.

WIZARD:

Exactly the point. People never do, but
what are you planning to do if things get
scarier or you get angrier...are you
going to take something stronger?

JIM:

Well, no.

WIZARD:

No? You've already moved from cigarettes
to pot. How can you be so sure you won't?

JIM:

'Cause I won't that's why! I don't
want to be no dope head.

WIZARD:

Well, maybe you're right, but I'd like you
to think about this: No one takes drugs
intending to become an addict. No one comes
into this world meaning to be evil or foolish,
yet the seeds of it lie within each of us.

Every addict who has ever lived believed that
it could not happen to him. Only, it can
happen to us because every single one of us
will take drugs under certain circumstances.

CAROL:

Now wait a minute. I admit I'm hooked on
cigarettes but I'd never take heroin.
